MANILA -- It looks like Matthew Castillejo Garcia is following the footsteps of his mother, tennis player-turned-sports reporter Dyan Castillejo.
Garcia ruled the Palawan Pawnshop Under 14 national age group tournament over the weekend.
In the semis, Garcia beat Stefano Guria in three sets, 1-6, 7-5 and 6-3 to set a title clash against J. Geluz.
Geluz was forced to retire after a set, allowing Garcia to take his sixth national age group title.
Garcia, who has pocketed five Under 14 titles and one Under 16 crown, also went as high as the semifinal round in the 16 and Under age group division of the tournament.
Garcia has tried out several sports like swimming, football and golf until he focused on tennis.
