Tennis: Slovenian Zidansek battles past Badosa to reach French Open semis

PARIS - Unseeded Tamara Zidansek became the first Slovenian woman to reach a Grand Slam semi-final as she beat Spain's Paula Badosa 7-5 4-6 8-6 in a gripping French Open battle on Tuesday.

The world number 85 led by a set and 4-2 but big-hitting Badosa stormed back to win six games in succession.

Zidansek showed great resolve to save three break points at 6-6 in a high-quality deciding set.

Badosa then crumbled in the final as Zidansek sealed victory with a thumping forehand winner. (Reporting by Martyn Herman Editing by Christian Radnedge)
