MANILA, Philippines -- World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao said he is considering the reported US$65-million offer by Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim for him to fight in Mexico.
The Philippines' "fighting congressman," however, said he will first seek the advice of his manager.
Slim, a telecommunications mogul currently ranked by Forbes Magazine as the richest man in the world, reportedly offered Pacquiao $65 million to fight young Mexican boxer Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank is receptive to what could be his ward's biggest and most lucrative fight yet.
If talks go well, Arum said the mega-buck bout may happen next year. -- Report from Jeff Canoy, ABS-CBN News; with ANC
