World junior-bantamweight champion Jerwin Ancajas has been promoted by the Philippine Navy following his successful title defense against Japan's Ruyichi Funai.
The Navy promoted Ancajas from chief petty officer to master chief petty Officer in the Naval reserves, according to his coach Joven Jimenez.
Ancajas is currently in Macau where he is set to be feted by the International Boxing Federation (IBF).
He will be formally receive the Jersey Joe Walcott Award at the 36th IBF annual convention at Wynn Palace Cotai on Thursday.
