Conditioning will not be a problem for Jenelyn Olsim ahead of her fight with Julie Mezabarba of Brazil in ONE 158 despite a 7-month layoff from the cage.
Aside from consistently training in the past months, Olsim recently competed in the 31st Southeast Asian Games in vovinam, where she won bronze.
"Nakatulong siya sa akin kasi mahabang preparation din ang ginawa namin," she said in an online press conference on Friday.
"Seven months din nabakante kasi twice na rin naka-cancel ang laban ko. So talagang pinaghahandaan ko. Now I'm 100% ready para sa fight na to."
Olsim expects an intense stand up fright against the Brazilian brawler, who holds a pro record of 9-3. She also holds a victory over former title contender Mei Yamaguchi.
But Olsim, who submitted Brazilian knockout artist Maira Mazar and outstruck Vietnamese-American star Bi Nguyen before losing to grappling specialist Ritu Phogat of India, said she is prepared to engage on the ground should the fight go there.
"Maghaharap kami sa stand up. Kung mapunta man sa ground, sure why not?" she said.
"Pinaghahandan rin naman namin 'yung ground part, kasi 'yung last na laban ko doon ako nakuha sa wrestling."
The fight takes place next week in Singapore.
