MANILA, Philippines -- The Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters once again extended a helping hand to barangays and health institutions in the National Capital Region, after making donations to San Juan and Pasig City just last month.
The Fuel Masters donated a portion of their monthly salaries so that the team can purchase relief packages and health equipment. Moreover, the players were more involved in the charity work this time around.
"The players wanted to be more involved this time, rather than just donate money," said Phoenix team manager Paolo Bugia, as quoted by the league website.
Barangay Pateros, the Bilibid Hospital in Muntinlupa, and Ospital ng Makati received sacks of rice and personal protective equipment. Food packs were distributed to the 103 military barracks in Barangay Mangtanggol, Pateros and in various checkpoints located in Pasig, Quezon City, and San Juan.
The Fuel Masters also distributed relief packs to the daily wage employees of The Upper Deck, which has been the team's training facility since 2017.
Calvin Abueva, Justin Chua, and Dave Marcelo helped in the preparation of the food packages, while JC Intal, JR Reyes, and RJ Jazul were the players who accompanied the team officials in the distribution process.
