MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) has announced that it will be providing bicycles to national athletes, to help them go places while still following physical distancing protocols.

The POC will make a limited number of bikes available, and the application process will be announced soon.

"With the new normal which mandates we find new ways to go about our daily business, national athletes who do not have a personal mode of transportation will surely benefit from this," POC President Abraham "Bambol" Tolentino said.

The free bikes are just one of the POC's ways to help national athletes amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is also holding online seminars to promote a healthy lifestyle among the athletes. On Saturday, Southeast Asian Games gold medalists Agatha Wong and Margielyn Didal joined Coach Jeaneth Aro and Akiko Thompson-Guevara in discussing how to make smart food choices during the pandemic.
