The absence of Stanley Pringle didn’t hurt NorthPort at all, as the rest of the Batang Pier stepped up to crush Alaska 103-81 on Wednesday and pick up their first victory in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

The Batang Pier used a dominant first half at Ynares Center in Antipolo and effectively quashed each of the Aces’ comeback attempts in the fourth quarter.

Leading the way for NorthPort is Sean Anthony, who scored 22 points to go with 6 rebounds.

The Batang Pier also got double-digit contributions from Robert Bolick (19 points, Prince Ibeh (19), Jonathan Grey (13) and Moala Tautuaa (12).

NorthPort posted a 51-42 lead at the half.

The Aces tried to press the action in the fourth, but could not get any significant contribution from reinforcement Chris Daniels.

“The guys stepped up in the absence of Stanley, they all helped to chip in,” Anthony said.

“We play NLEX on Saturday. We just want to clean it up a little bit . . . Hopefully we can build on that chemistry with Prince.”

The Aces, led by Daniel’s 21 points, fell to their first loss for a 1-1 slate.

The scores:

NorthPort 103 - Anthony 22, Bolick 19, Ibeh 19, Grey 13, Tautuaa 12, Taha 9, Elorde 5, Arana 4, Flores 0.

Alaska 81 - Daniels 21, Enciso 10, Ayaay 10, Cruz 9, Casio 8, Baclao 7, Exciminiano 6, Thoss 4, Teng 2, Pascual 2, Racal 2, Galliguez 0, Babilonia 0.
