MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Girls Under-15 team is out of the running for the gold medal in the AFF U-15 Girls' Championship, after bowing to Laos 1-3 on Sunday at the Institute of Physical Education in Chonburi, Thailand.
Laos found the back of the net immediately, scoring in the first minute and again in the 22nd and 43rd.
Angely Alferez pulled one back in the 59th minute, heading in from close range after Laos' defense was caught off guard from the corner kick.
Unfortunately, the Filipinas could not convert their chances the rest of the way, allowing Laos to advance to the gold medal match.
The Philippines will play Vietnam for the bronze on Tuesday.
Vietnam won their group round meeting, 2-0.
