Filipino Tekken 7 player Andreij "PBE Doujin" Albar placed 9th in the Battle Arena Melbourne TEKKEN7 tournament held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre (MCEC) in Australia Saturday.

Albar, who uses Tekken 6 protagonist Lars, was inches away from qualifying for the quarterfinals but fell short against Nakayama "Nobi" Daichi's Dragunov, losing 2-1 in the battle for the Top 8 bracket.

Some 258 players participated in the tournament.

Albar's standing in the tournament gave him extra points to qualify for the TEKKEN World Tour in Bangkok, to be held later this year.

Albar currently ranks 6th worldwide and 3rd in the Asia-Pacific with 295 points.
