San Miguel Beer veteran Arwind Santos is truly happy to see Terrence Romeo finally getting a PBA title after they completed their title conquest of Magnolia in the Philippine Cup finals Wednesday.
Santos said that, just like him, Romeo redeemed himself by joining the Beermen and hoisting a trophy.
“Sabi ko nga sa kanya marami nang sumpang natanggal sa San Miguel. Kahit ako noong time na napunta ako dito maraming nagsabi na bad luck daw ako, unlucky ako, kaya first championship napakasaya,” said Santos, who won all of his 8 championships as a Beerman.
“Kaya masaya ako para kay Terrence bilang ka-FEU ko rin siya.”
Santos added that Romeo’s first taste of the title will improve the young shooting guard even more.
“Oo paghahandaan kami ng ibang team pero masmahirap pang talunin lalo ang San Miguel kasi mas masarap maglaro ’yung alam mong marami ka nang napatunayan, nakuha mo na ang mga ganito, tapos ’yung mga players na nakakasama mo mataas na ang kumpiyansa kasi first time nila nag-champion,” he said.
Romeo, likewise, is thankful for Santos whom he considered as his kuya. Romeo said Santos has always encouraged him despite the former being a part of San Miguel’s second unit.
“Si Arwind siya talaga ’yung palaging nangdyan para kausapin ako. Every game pag tinatawag na ang first 5, sinasabi niya sa’kin na ‘basta ready ka ’pag pasok,’” he said.
