MANILA, Philippines -- University of Santo Tomas (UST) star Sisi Rondina received the Most Valuable Player award for UAAP Season 81 in an emotional ceremony on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of Game 2 of the finals.

In her final season in the UAAP, Rondina led the league in scoring, powered UST to the second-seed, and now has the Tigresses on the brink of its first women's volleyball crown in nine years.

She was joined by her family in the awarding ceremony at the Mall of Asia Arena, as the UST community showered them with cheers and "M-V-P" chants.

"Nagpapasalamat po ako sa Panginoon, na isa ako sa binigyan ng ganitong talento," said Rondina, the first MVP from UST since Venus Bernal also took home the trophy in Season 69.

"Sa lahat po ng bumubuo ng UAAP, maraming-maraming salamat po. Sa 8th Man namin, sa UST community, maraming salamat. Sa lahat ng sumusuporta sa UAAP, para sa inyo ito, lalo na sa pamilya ko," she added.

"UST community, the best kayo," added Rondina, expressing her profound gratitude to their fans who had come together to bring her family to Manila in time for Game 2.

Aside from the MVP, Rondina also received the Second Best Outside Spiker honors.

Also receiving her trophies was UST's Eya Laure, who earned Rookie of the Year and First Best Outside Spiker honors.

National University's (NU) Roselyn Doria and Ateneo de Manila University's Maddie Madayag were the First and Second Best Middle Blockers, respectively, while Ateneo's Kat Tolentino took home the Best Opposite Hitter honors.
