MANILA, Philippines – The Rizal Memorial Coliseum pitch will blaze hot with football action on Thursday when ABS-CBN S+A and iWant Sports air the UAAP Season 81 men's football Final 4 matches live, starting at 2 p.m.
Defending champion University of the Philippines (UP), seeded second in the semis, face off against third-seeded De La Salle University at 2 p.m., while top-seeded Ateneo de Manila University will try to oust Far Eastern University (FEU) at 4 p.m.
The Blue Eagles got off to a rocky start in Season 81, before football phenom Jarvey Gayoso kicked into higher gear and towed his team to the top of the table with an 8-2-4 win-draw-loss card.
The Tamaraws got the short end of the stick, losing critical matches to UP and La Salle to finish as the No. 4 seed.
The Fighting Maroons, on the other hand, needed a late surge in the tournament to secure a Final 4 spot behind the exploits of JB Borlongan and Kintaro Miyagi. They climbed to No. 3 by beating FEU, then finished as the second seed, thanks to La Salle's triumph over the Tamaraws.
