A strong, MVP-caliber recommendation helped Denzel Bowles get the nod to play for Rain Or Shine in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Bowles got the thumbs up from former teammate James Yap.
“We were planning to get Reggie Johnson, our former import, but he has been inactive for about a year, so getting in a replacement is essential. Coach Caloy (Garcia) then, researched on Denzel Bowles and we found out he played 60 games in Japan,” said Rain Or Shine team owner Raymond Yu in an article posted on FoxSports.PH.
“Coach Caloy also asked endorsement from James, who vouched that Denzel is a good guy and a good teammate.”
Bowles and Yap had worked together as B-Meg Llamados teammates en route to the 2012 Commissioner’s Cup title.
They never played again, but Yap assured that Bowles is a team player.
“Tinanong nila ako kung OK ba si Denzel, sabi ko OK naman siya. Tingin ko may mga tao namang kailangan ng second chance at sa tingin ko may gusto rin siyang i-prove,” he said.
