MANILA, Philippines – Rookie Xavi Zubiri scored a late goal to power De La Salle University to a thrilling 1-0 triumph over Far Eastern University (FEU) – and in the process, clinch the last Final 4 berth in the UAAP Season 81 men's football tournament.

The Green Archers were the aggressors in the final 10 minutes of the match on Thursday, with rookie John Rhey Lagura having several scoring chances to put his side ahead but falling short each time.

Zubiri eventually scored his first-ever UAAP goal – and La Salle's biggest of the season – from close range in stoppage time.

That was enough for La Salle to finish with 25 points and eliminate University of Santo Tomas in the Final 4 race.

"I feel amazing right now," said Zubiri in a television interview.

In the morning match at the FEU-Diliman pitch, Kyle Magdato netted a brace while Dane Saavedra also entered the scoresheet as defending champion University of the Philippines (UP) fashioned out a 3-0 win over also-ran University of the East (UE) to barge in the Final 4.

The Fighting Maroons finished second in the table with 26 points and will face No. 3 Archers in the knockout semifinals next week at the Rizal Memorial Stadium.

The loss dropped the Tamaraws to fourth spot at 24 points. FEU will take on elimination round topnotcher Ateneo de Manila University in the other Final 4 pairing.
