F2 Logistics stunned erstwhile unbeaten Petron, as the Cargo Movers snapped the defending champion's 17-game winning streak with a 25-20, 16-25, 25-23, 25-23, victory in Game 1 of the best-of-three 2019 Philippine Superliga Grand Prix Finals at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
American Lindsay Stalzer and Venezuelan MJ Perez led the charge for F2, which moved a win away from knocking the crown off Petron's head in their sixth straight championship showdown.
Perez delivered the match-clinching kill to seal her 24-point night highlighted by 23 attack points and 11 excellent receptions in her first encounter with the Blaze Spikers since flying in late in the second round. Stalzer, who was Petron's reinforcement last year, came up with 21 markers and 17 digs for F2 Logistics.
F2 Logistics squandered a 17-13 lead in the fourth frame, allowing the Blaze Spikers to close in 21-20. Stalzer gave the Cargo Movers some breathing room to stop Petron's run before Perez hammered the last three points to hand F2 Logistics the victory.
Stalzer delivered the Cargo Movers last two points in the third set that broke a 23-23 tie and gave F2 Logistics a 2-1 match lead.
American Kat Bell had 30 points with 26 coming off attacks while Stephanie Niemer posted 20 markers for Petron, which can save its campaign on Thursday.
Meanwhile, PLDT Home Fibr went through the wringer before escaping a game Cignal squad, 25-19, 25-18, 20-25, 20-25, 19-17, to capture the bronze medal.
