MANILA -- National University scored a straightforward victory over Far Eastern University to secure the No. 1 seed in the UAAP Season 81 men's volleyball tournament on Sunday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The defending champions fashioned out a 25-13, 25-23, 25-18 victory over the Tamaraws, stretching their winning streak to 13 games and gaining a measure of revenge over FEU in the process.

The Tamaraws had shocked the Bulldogs in their season opener, seizing a 25-12, 25-18, 25-17 win in a game that saw FEU commit just 9 errors while National U committed 32 miscues.

The Bulldogs played a far cleaner game this time around, committing just 19 unforced errors while getting a 19-point outing from Angelo Almedras. Bryan Bagunas added 16 points, including 13 kills. James Natividad also reached double-digits with 11 points.

NU peppered the FEU floor defense with 45 kills, while limiting the Tamaraws to just 26 attack points.

RJ Paler led FEU with 12 points in a losing effort.

The Bulldogs finished with a 13-1 record in the elimination round, while the Tamaraws wrapped up their campaign with an 11-3 slate.

Both teams will own a twice-to-beat edge in the Final 4.

Ateneo de Manila University secured the third seed after beating Adamson University, 25-23, 30-28, 25-19, also on Sunday.

Ron Medalla (17 points) and John Rivera (16) led the charge for the Blue Eagles as they claimed their fourth win in a row to end the elimination round with a 10-4 win-loss record.

Adamson, meanwhile, finished with a 9-5 slate, and will play the Bulldogs in the Final 4.
