University of Santo Tomas recovered from a third-set meltdown before turning back National University 27-25, 25-17, 20-25, 25-16 to close their elimination round campaign in UAAP Season 81 women's volleyball in San Juan on Saturday.

The Tigresses thus secured at least a playoff for a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals.

Graduating hitter Sisi Rondina and super rookie Eya Laure delivered the goods at FilOil Flying V Centre, as the Tigresses improved to 10-4 in the standings putting themselves in a good position to vie for a semis incentive.

UST can force a playoff for the final-4 bonus if three-time defending champion La Salle (10-3) loses to Far Eastern University on Sunday.

The young Lady Bulldogs finished their season with a 4-10 mark and saw the last game of graduating hitter Roselyn Doria.
