(UPDATED) De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (CSB) arrested a 2-game skid by beating San Sebastian College-Recoletos, 71-62, in Season 97 NCAA men's basketball tournament on Friday.
Will Gozum scored 18 points to go with his 12 rebounds, 4 blocks and 3 steals to lead the Blazers to their 5th victory in 8 games.
This was a rebound win for CSB after back-to-back losses to Jose Rizal University and Mapua University.
Robi Naybe also had a stellar game for the Blazers with 17 points.
The first half saw a running but low scoring game between the two squads. The Golden Stags enjoyed a tight 28-26 advantage going into the third with JM Calma's lead.
Gozum picked up the pace in the third period to give CSB a 35-34 lead. Calma then sparked a run that forced a 50-50 deadlock.
Prince Carlos and AJ Benson entered the fray in the final quarter where they outshot San Sebastian, 21-12.
Calma finished with 25 points for the Golden Stags.
