For Paul Lee, taking Game 3 in their best-of-7 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals against Rain or Shine was crucial for Magnolia.
Prior to their 85-74 come-from-behind victory over the Elasto Painters last Tuesday, the Hotshots were 0-2 in the race-to-4 series.
Lee said the win somehow took some of the load off their shoulders before the Lenten break.
"Medyo mahirap kung natalo kami tapos magbe-break," he said in the PBA website. "Although makakapag-pahinga kami, hindi pa rin mawawala sa isip namin na 0-3 kami.”
"At least ito yung momentum naming nanalo kami andiyan na. So malaking factor talaga itong break na nakuha namin."
Lee also said the week-long downtime also meant big for the Hotshots. For one, it allows him to recover from the playoffs grind.
Before entering the best-of-7 semifinals against Rain or Shine, Magnolia went the full route in their best-of-3 quarterfinals series versus Barangay Ginebra.
"Kung pagsasamahin mo yung 3 games dito (semis), tsaka yung 3 games nung sa Ginebra parang naka isang series na kami," he said.
Lee has been playing hurt the entire playoffs, both his knees being wrapped in ice after every game.
"Kaya yun ang pinag-usapan namin na makuha lang namin itong Game 3 and then makapag-pahinga, we'll be okay," he said.
