Aston Palicte gets another chance to fight for a world crown when he takes on Japan’s Kazuto Ioka for the WBO junior bantamweight title vacated by Donnie Nietes.
The bout will take place on June 19 at Osaka Prefectural Gym in Japan, according to an article posted on Philboxing.
Palicte earned the right to fight for the title after knocking out previously unbeaten Puerto Rican opponent Jose "Chiquiro" Martinez last January 31 in the second round of their title eliminator.
The WBO ordered negotiations to begin for a rematch between then reigning WBO champion Nietes and Palicte, but Nietes wanted to pursue other fights.
Nietes and Palicte already figured in a WBO junior bantamweight title fight in September last year, but the bout ended in a draw.
Nietes eventually captured the crown last December 31 in Macao, China, when he won a 12-round split decision against Ioka.
