MANILA -- ONE Championship founder Chatri Sityodtong on Tuesday said he is happy for Brandon Vera, who is appearing in a movie that has been picked up for international release.
"The Truth" is also getting married soon.
But Sityodtong is hoping that the reigning ONE heavyweight champion will step into the cage again and defend his title.
"He's a massive celebrity, he's got a movie deal and all of that. Now he's going to get married, I'm very, very happy for him. But I want him to defend his belt," said Sityodtong.
The ONE executive even offered to promote Vera's movie "Buybust" through its various platforms once it gets released globally in August.
"He's a friend of mine and I have a lot of love for Brandon. I understand it's also his time to shine as an actor and a celebrity. When his movie comes out, ONE Championship will support it fully," said Sityodtong.
"But please Brandon Vera, get back into the cage. let's go. The whole world is watching, man," he quipped.
The last time Vera fought was when he defended his title against Japanese grappler Hideki Sekine in 2016.
He won the crown when he knocked out Paul Cheng in 2015.
