MANILA - The Philippines' dream of qualifying for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup collapsed on Tuesday following a 5-0 defeat to South Korea in Amman, Jordan.

The Philippine women's national football team failed to secure a spot in the fifth-place playoff of the AFC Women's Asian Cup held at the Amman International Stadium.

Jang Sel-Gi scored South Korea's first goal from the left side of the box in the 34th minute.

Lee Mi-na and Lim Seon-Joo of South Korea also both connected in the 48th and 56th respectively.

In the second half of the game, Cho So-Hyun scored a brace for South Korea in the 66th and 84th.

The road to France for the Malditas was off to a good start, blasting host country Jordan 2-1.

But the Malditas lost their last two assignments against powerhouse China and heavy favorite Thailand.
