MANILA — Not even a day after landing in Manila, Kobe Paras plunged into action as he practiced with the Gilas Cadets for the first time on Monday at the Meralco Gym.
Paras arrived early Monday morning and practiced with the Gilas Cadets that same night, in preparation for their upcoming stint in the FilOil Flying V Premier Cup.
He was one of 12 players to actively practice on Monday evening.
Joining Paras were: CJ Perez, Kenneth Tuffin, Will Gozum, Juan Gomez de Liano, Ricci Rivero, Prince Rivero, Arvin Tolentino, Javee Mocon, Jeo Ambohot, Vince Tolentino, and Abu Tratter.
Also present was J-Jay Alejandro, but the former National U captain was in street clothes as he is still recovering from a right ankle sprain.
An interested observer on Monday night was NLEX rookie Kiefer Ravena, who said that he looks forward to teaming up with the Gilas Cadets in the future.
“Hopefully if I stay healthy, I can play with them and represent the country in the worlds,” said Ravena, referring to the 2023 FIBA World Cup that the Philippines will co-host.
“It’s nice to watch the future of the Gilas program,” he also said.
The Gilas Cadets are expected to intensify their practices ahead of their first game in the FilOil, scheduled for Saturday against the Ateneo Blue Eagles.
