Top seeds F2 Logistics and Petron eye a final-4 spot when they take on separate foes in the quarterfinals of the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix at General Trias Sports Center in Cavite on Saturday.
F2 takes on Smart at 4 p.m., while Petron battles Generika-Ayala at 6 p.m.
Reigning champion F2 finished the classification round with a 9-1 record, similar to Petron. Because of a twice-to-beat advantage, both teams only need to win their quarterfinals openers to advance.
Petron wants to return to the finals after being denied a title the past 3 years.
Bannered by American players Lindsay Stalzer and Hillary Hurley, the Blaze Spikers opened their campaign with 8 consecutive victories, fueling their bid for a sweep, which they achieved in the All-Filipino Conference in 2015.
Unfortunately, their plan was aborted as Sta. Lucia came up with a straight-sets victory last week.
Although the Blaze Spikers regained their bearing after a five-set win over Cocolife, head coach Shaq Delos Santos said they are still looking to come up with a strong performance in the next round.
