LOS ANGELES – Floyd Mayweather is literally putting his money where his mouth is.

TMZ reports that Money Mayweather is spending $25,000 a piece on custom mouthguards. One of them is embedded with a real hundred dollar bill.

Soon after the buzz over the protective gear went viral, Manny Pacquiao also got to try on his brand new multi-colored mouthguard, a more modest one compared to his opponent’s.

Dr. Ed Dela Vega, who has been custom fitting the guard for the People’s Champ for almost a decade, brought the custom mouthguard to the Pacman’s Thursday morning workout.

"There's an extra protection inside the mouthpiece. So the whole front where he really needs protection is very hard. Also, if you see the indentation this is where his lower teeth would fit. So when he bites, the teeth lock so the jaw doesn’t move laterally," he said, as he showed off the mouthguard to several reporters.

Dr. Dela Vega said the typical cost is $500 for a custom polyvinyl acetate (PVA) mouthguard. But he gives it for free to Pacquiao and other Pinoy fighters.

Dr. Dela Vega is laughing off the extravagant costs of Mayweather’s oral fashion statements.

"It doesn’t do any other protection. It’s all hype. That’s all there is to it and Floyd is known for that. He wants to show everybody he wants to rub it in the face of boxers that can’t afford it," said the Canoga-Park-based dentist.

After the Pacman missed his Tuesday sparring session, he was back in the gym Wednesday.

“Today we opened the gates. He kicked my ass. I must’ve got hit with a thousand and two punches today,” said Coach Freddie Roach.

It was good day of practice, giving the Pacman reason to smile behind his mouthguard.

“Hungry, the fire is there. It’s good. Happy ako sa training,” he said as he wrapped up the practice.
