MANILA -- The Kevin Belingon-Bibiano Fernandes rivalry has become one of the greatest rivalries in the history of ONE Championship.
This is why ONE founding chairman Chatri Sityodtong believes the two fighters might meet again in the near future.
"First of all, I love Kevin, and I love Bibiano, and the bad blood they have - or had - was very, very real," Sityodtong told ABS-CBN Sports.
The two first met in 2016 for the ONE bantamweight title, with the Brazilian jiujitsu expert winning via submission.
They had a rematch two years later, with Belingon eking out a split decision.
In 2019, Belingon and Fernandes squared off a third time, but the Filipino was disqualified due to an unintentional illegal blow. This paved the way for a fourth match months later, where Fernandes earned a a second-round submission.
The Brazilian will likely defend his title against another challenger soon, while Belingon made it clear he wants to fight UFC star John Lineker next.
For the two to meet again, Belingon will need to rack wins again to get back to title contention.
"From my understanding, the bad blood isn’t as bad anymore, but I think Kevin is going to have to win a few to earn his title shot back against Bibiano," said Sityodtong.
"If you ask me, I’ll bet that Kevin and Bibi are going to fight again at some point."
