MANILA, Philippines -- Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz is offering an online weightlifting seminar that doubles as a fundraiser in the fight against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
The Filipina weightlifter made the announcement through her social media accounts on Monday.
The seminar will be conducted via Zoom, and interested participants will need to donate, with all proceeds going towards relief efforts against the pandemic.
"I'm doing this to do my part as a Filipino and to share my passion, experiences, and knowledge in weightlifting," said Diaz, a gold medalist in the 2018 Asian Games and the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.
Participants can register online through this link.
Diaz is one of several Filipino athletes whose road to the Tokyo Olympics had been halted because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Filipina is on track to qualify, but all of her competitions -- including qualifying tournaments -- have been put on hold.
