MANILA -- (UPDATED) Northport was a fighting 7th seed but the Great Pancit Wars go the way of Rain or Shine.

The second-ranked Elasto Painters were firm in answering every uprising from the Batang Pier, ultimately taking a decisive 91-85 win Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup playoffs.

Making full use of its twice-to-beat edge, Rain or Shine stopped a streaking Northport, booking a ticket to the All-Filipino semifinals.

There, the Elasto Painters will for the winner of Manila Clasico. Ginebra currently leads the best-of-3 series, 1-0.

After a low-scoring opening period, ROS put up 29 on the Batang Pier in the second to turn a three-point deficit into a nice 10-point at the break.

Northport would prove to be pesky still but the Elasto Painters would have strong finishing runs in the third and fourth quarters to maintain control. The last one put ROS up, 91-77, and pretty much wrapped up the win.

Ed Daquioag led Rain or Shine with 15 points off the bench. Rey Nambatac was another spark in a reserve role, adding 14 markers.

Beau Belga was the only starter in double figures with 13 points.

NorthPort’s big 3 proved to be ineffective with Mo Tautuaa the only one with a strong performance. Big Mo led all scorers with 24 points on top of seven rebounds.

Sean Anthony missed the game due to injury while Stanley Pringle struggled for only nine points on 3/15 shooting. Stepping up for him though was Garvo Lanete who fired 20 points.
