MANILA -- (UPDATED) University of Perpetual Help sailed to a dominant 87-70 win over Arellano University on Wednesday in the NCAA 97 men's basketball tournament.
Jeff Egan led the way for the Altas with 26 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists, helping Perpetual end a 2-game slump.
Jielo Razon tallied 14 points even as Kim Aurin and Rey Barcuma chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Perpetual led by as much as 20 points, 57-37, but Kobe Caballero rallied Arellano with a 13-0 run.
The lead, however, proved insurmountable for the Chiefs, especially after their main gunner Justin Arana bailed out with a painful knee.
Arana still managed to finish with 14 points and 12 boards but this didn't stop the Chiefs from absorbing a third straight setback.
Perpetual will next face De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde on Saturday, while Arellano will take on Mapua University on Sunday.
