MANILA, Philippines -- The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) on Monday reminded national team athletes and coaches to strictly observe the guidelines of the enhanced community quarantine, amid reports that some athletes and coaches were non-compliant.
Athletes and coaches were reminded to: avoid non-essential travel, practice physical distancing, avoid close person-to-person interaction, and remain hydrated and well-nourished to help prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.
They were also encouraged to stay at home, as per the PSC's medical advisory.
"The Commission has been receiving reports that some athletes/coaches are not complying with the guidelines," the PSC said in its advisory.
"The PSC is urging all national sports associations to closely monitor the activities of their athletes and coaches to ensure their welfare and well-being," it added.
There are now 3,660 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines.
