Less than a month after getting shut down in Malaysia, Global Cebu FC gained a measure of revenge against 2015 AFC Cup Champions Johor Darul Ta'zim Wednesday evening, handing the Malaysian champions their first loss, 3-2, in 2017 AFC Cup action at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.

The Pinoy side did work in the first half, with Dennis Villanueva finding the back of the net 27 minutes into the match.

Not long after, Shu Sasaki double the Global Cebu FC lead, converting in the 33rd minute to make it two-zip for the hosts.

Defender Amani Aguinaldo also got in on the scoring party, making it a three-nothing lead for "The People's Club" in the 35th minute.

The Malaysian side would show just why they're considered as one of the best teams in the tournament, as they controlled the second half, resulting in a couple of conversions in the 49th and 83rd minute for Gabriel Guerra.

Fortunately for the Pinoy side, Johor Darul Ta'zim would fall one goal short of equalizing,

With the win, Global Cebu FC moves into solo first place with nine points on three wins and one loss. JDT drops to second place with two wins, one draw, and one loss for seven points.

Global heads into enemy territory for their next outing on April 19th, as they take on Myanmar's Magwe FC at the Thuwunna Stadium in Yangon, Myanmar.

In their last outing, Global dropped Magwe, 1-0, courtesy of a goal from Misagh Bahadoran.
