Robert Bolick came through with 24 points to steer NorthPort past Barangay Ginebra and into the quarterfinals of the PBA Philippine Cup Wednesday night.
The 100-97 victory over the Gin Kings at the Araneta Coliseum was such a huge lift for the Batang Pier as it assured them a passage to the playoffs.
Bolick stepped up the plate after Sean Anthony, who finished with 19 points, went out with a hurt groin.
The Batang Pier also got 17 points from Moala Tautuaa and 14 from Bradwyn Guinto to cap their eliminations run with 3 wins.
NorthPort, now seeded seventh, will take on second seed Rain or Shine in the next round. They need to beat the Elasto Painters twice to make it to the semis.
It was a neck-and-neck affair between Ginebra and NorthPort. The Kings even led the Batang Pier by 97-95 going to the final minute.
But Bolick triggered a looper, allowing NorthPort to run away with the victory.
Greg Slaughter topscored Ginerba with 14 points.
