MANILA – National University (NU) will take on Far Eastern University (FEU) on Saturday in their quest for a Final 4 berth in the UAAP women's volleyball.
With only 2 games left in the eliminations, the Lady Bulldogs are hard-pressed to beat the Lady Tamaraws, who are also gunning a place in the semifinals.
NU, currently with a 7-5 record, is in a 3-way tie in the league standings with University of Sto. Tomas and University of the Philippines for 3rd to 5th places.
The Lady Bulldogs dropped a 4-set decision against the Lady Maroons Sunday but NU assistant coach Edjet Mabbayad said they can't afford to dwell on their loss.
"Ganoon talaga, may nananalo, may natatalo. Kailangan lang, matuto kami sa pagkatalo namin," he said.
"Hindi naman kailangan ma-low morale diyan. Kailangan, i-motivate na lang sila para sa upcoming games namin."
NU will be facing a highly motivated FEU, which recently beat University of the East in straight sets. The win improved the Lady Tams’ record to 6-6 and fanned their Final 4 hopes alive.
"Medyo mabigat pa ang pagdadaanan namin," said FEU coach Shaq delos Santos. "Pero gagawin lang namin ang best namin."
In the other women's volleyball game, De La Salle will face Adamson University.
The Lady Spikers are already assured of a twice-to-beat bonus in the Final 4, but the Lady Falcons will be determined to get their first victory this season.
