CALASIAO, Pangasinan -- As the PBA All-Star reverts to its old format, the rivalry between the North and South is renewed as they square off on Sunday at the Calasiao Sports Complex for 2019 edition of the annual festivities.

Pangasinan bet Marc Pingris of Magnolia, who is still recovering from ACL injury, will banner the North squad for his 15th consecutive All-Star appearance. Joining him is Arwind Santos of San Miguel, who will be playing for 11th time in the All-Star.

Pingris, however, said he is still unsure if he can finally get a clearance to play in the court but promised to be present during the dance performance before the game. Tip off will be at 6 PM.

Also representing the North are: Alex Cabagnot, Gabe Norwood, Troy Rosario, Calvin Abueva, Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio, Paul Lee, Marcio Lassiter, Jason Perkins, Stanley Pringle, Jayson Castro, Chris Banchero and Mark Caguioa.

Louie Alas will be calling the shots at the sidelines.

Asi Taulava and James Yap, on the other side, will not back down against Pingris and company as they attempt to trim down their deficit against the North in the All-Star records. North is leading the head-to-head matchup with eight wins over South’s four.

The veterans Taulava and Yap will be making their 17th and 16th PBA All-Star appearance, respectively.

Fans are also excited to witness Yap reunite with former Purefoods teammates PJ Simon, who beat him in the 3-point shootout, and Mark Barroca.

Completing the Team South are: Terrence Romeo, Baser Amer, June Mar Fajardo, Greg Slaughter, Scottie Thompson, RR Pogoy, Chris Ross, Jio Jalalon, JP Erram and Mac Belo. Rain or Shine’s coach Caloy Garcia will be their mentor.

There will also be a 3x3 game during the halftime.
