Eduard Folayang suffered a shocker in the main event of ONE: A New Era on Sunday afyer being submitted by Shinya Aoki at the iconic Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

The revered Japanese grappler made short work of Folayang by trapping the Filipino in an arm-triangle.

Folayang was eventually put to sleep in the first round.

This was a rematch of their 2016 title bout that saw Folayang shock the world and defeat Aoki via third-round TKO to become a world champion for the first time.

Earlier, his teammate Kevin Belingon lost his ONE bantamweight crown in controversial fashion after he was disqualified in his rubber match against Bibiano Fernandes.

Belingon was given a red card for throwing illegal strikes (elbows in the back of the head) against his Brazilian foe in the third round of their match.

The defeats came following the title loses of teammates Joshua Pacio and Geje Eustaquio.

Meanwhile, Danny Kingad moved to the semifinal round of the ONE flyweight grand prix by outgrappling Japan’s Senzo Ikeda.

With the win, Kingad will face former ONE flyweight world champion Kairat Akhmetov, who was also victorious earlier in the card against Reece McLaren.

In the other co-main events, 2-division champion Aung La Nsang of Myanmar retained his ONE middleweight world title with a huge knockout of Ken Hasegawa in round 2.

Aung La later accepted Brandon Vera’s challenge for the ONE light heavyweight title.

Xiong Jing Nan also topped Angela Lee via TKO in the fifth round to retain the ONE women's strawweight championship.
