PVL: Petro Gazz eliminates F2 Logistics to complete semis cast

(UPDATED) Petro Gazz eliminated F2 Logistics in 4 sets, 25-14, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19, to catch the last bus to the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference semifinals at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City on Tuesday.

Grethcel Soltones had 21 points while Jonah Sabete, who provided the finishing kick for the Angels, tallied 18 hits.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas added 18 points to go along with 23 digs as Cienne Cruz and Bang Pineda had 18 receptions and 16 digs, respectively.

The Cargo Movers, meanwhile, got 11 points each from Kianna Dy and Aby Marano. Majoy Baron tallied 2 blocks for 10 points.

After dropping the second set, Angels rallied toward the end of the third set.

The Cargo Movers then put up an 11-9 lead in the fourth stanza but saw themselves reeling when Sabete orchestrated run that pushed the Angels ahead,16-13.

Following a couple of hits from Sabete, Petro Gazz moved at match point with a six-point lead. Ara Galang's crosscourt hit sailed long, allowing the Angels to advance to the next round.

Petro Gazz will meet Cignal in the next round.
