Current Growling Tigers coach Ayo has learned valuable lessons from UST legend Aric del Rosario 1

MANILA -- University of Santo Tomas (UST) coach Aldin Ayo paid tribute to the late coaching great Aric Del Rosario, who recently passed away.

Ayo said he learned valuable lessons from a lengthy talk with Del Rosario during an alumni game. The feisty coach was remembered for leading the Tigers to a 4-peat UAAP dynasty in the '90s.

Ayo said he hopes he will be able to lead the Tigers the way Del Rosario did in the 1990s.

Ayo led Colegio de San Juan de Letran to the NCAA championship before doing the same thing with De La Salle University in the UAAP. Then he made the controversial transfer to UST.

But Ayo said he wanted to become a part of the UST Tigers team back in his playing days.

But due to Del Rosario’s success with the Tigers, getting into the team was tough, he said.

"During that time, halos lahat ng mga players gustong pumunta ng UST.
