WrestleMania 36 will proceed -- but not in front of tens of thousands of fans at the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay, Florida.

Instead, the WWE's showpiece event will take place behind closed doors at its Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, the company announced on Monday (Tuesday in Manila).

This, as a precautionary measure against the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

"In coordination with local partners and government officials, WrestleMania and all related events in Tampa Bay will not take place," the WWE said in a statement.

"However, WrestleMania will still stream live on Sunday, April 5, at 7 pm ET on WWE Network and be available on pay-per-view," it added.

"Only essential personnel" will be at the facility.

WWE has aired its past episodes of SmackDown and Monday Night RAW from the Performance Center.

Among the matches confirmed for WrestleMania are the WWE Championship showdown between Brock Lesnar and Drew McIntyre, and Becky Lynch's defense of the RAW Women's Championship against Shayna Baszler.

Goldberg will defend the Universal Title against Roman Reigns, while The Undertaker and AJ Styles sealed their match just this Monday on RAW.
