FIBA World Cup: Philippines faces Italy, Serbia, Angola in Group D

The Philippines was grouped with a formidable list of basketball teams in the coming 2019 FIBA Basketball World Cup.

The official draw for the World Cup had the Philippines clustered with Italy, Serbia, and Angola in Group D.

Serbia is ranked world number 4, while Italy stands at number 13. Angola has won the FIBA Africa championship 11 times.

Serbia has a number of players in the NBA, including Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic and Serbian big man Boban Marjanovic. Italy, meanwhile, has Danilo Gallinari and Marco Bellinelli.

Among those who attended the draw were basketball legend Kobe Bryant and China's Yao Ming.

A total of 32 teams have qualified to play in the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.

They have been distributed into 8 pots of four 4 teams each, based on the NIKE FIBA World Ranking Men.
