MANILA -- The Beach Volleyball Republic (BVR) has postponed the upcoming legs of its Tour in light of the fluid COVID-19 situation in the country.

BVR on Tour Puerto Galera (March 27-28) and BVR on Tour Dumaguete (April 4-5) have both been moved to later dates.

"The BVR has the paramount duty and responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of its fans, players, officials, and crew," the organization said in a statement.

The BVR is the latest sports entity to be affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.

Several leagues, including the PBA, UAAP, and NCAA, have suspended their events while the Philippine Azkals' upcoming qualifiers for the World Cup and the Asian Cup were postponed.

As of Saturday night, the Department of Health has reported a total of 111 cases of COVID-19 in the Philippines, with 8 deaths.
