Pinoy football club Global Cebu FC absorbed their first loss in 2017 AFC Cup action Tuesday evening after falling to Malaysian champions Johor Darul Ta'zim, 4-0, at the Larkin Stadium in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
Mahalli Bin Jasuli struck first for the home team, scoring 30 minutes into the match.
Johor skipper Safiq Rahim followed up not long after, converting a penalty kick in the 34th minute for a 2-0 lead in the first half.
The Pinoy champions showed a bit more fight in the second half of action, getting off more chances but ultimately couldn't get anything to drop.
Johor Darul Ta'zim put the finishing touches in the dying moments of the match, with Brian Ferreira scoring in the 87th minute, and Marcos Antonio added one last goal two minutes into injury time.
With the loss, Global Cebu FC relinquishes their hold on the top spot, which now belongs to Johor Darul Ta'zim with two wins and a draw for seven points.
Global falls to second in Group F with two wins and a loss for six points.
"The People's Club" wont have to wait long for a shot at revenge against JDT, as they host the Malaysian powerhouse club at the Rizal Memorial Stadium on April 5th.
