MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion Petron continues to march in the 2019 Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix, this time taking down Foton in three sets on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
The Blaze Spikers secured a 25-20, 25-13, 25-21 triumph, their eighth consecutive win in the tournament.
Imports Stephanie Niemer and Katherine Bell were on point once more for the defending champions, who have lost just one set so far in the Grand Prix.
Niemer contributed 17 points built on 11 attacks, five aces, and a block, while Bell had 11 kills and three blocks for 14 points.
With the result, the Blaze Spikers spoiled the debut of new Foton import Milagros Collar of Spain, as well as the return of Dindin Santiago-Manabat from a stint with the Toray Arrows in Japan's V.Premier League.
Collar had 12 points, the same output as fellow import Courtney Felinski. Mina Aganon had 10 points, as the Tornadoes suffered their seventh straight loss.
Santiago-Manabat was limited to just three points in her return to Foton.
