Three-time defending champion De La Salle University arrested a two-game slide but not after surviving some scary moments against a determined University of the East to eke out a 25-18, 25-20, 25-18, win Saturday in the UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball tournament at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Veteran Tin Tiamzon stepped up in the absence of injured Des Cheng, who was nursing a shoulder injury, scoring 10 points as the Lady Spikers improved to 4-2 win-loss record.

DLSU needed to come back from early deficits in the second and third frames to get back on the winning track.

The Lady Warriors dropped to a 1-5 slate.
