MANILA - National University pinned down the Adamson University in straight sets, 26-24, 25-14, 25-21, in the UAAP Season 82 Women's Volleyball Tournament, Sunday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

Audrey Paran led the way for the Lady Bulldogs with 15 points, while Margot Mutshima had seven attacks, three blocks and three aces to finish with 13 markers.

Spearheaded by two of its reliable scorers, NU rose to 2-0 for a solo lead.

"Masaya kami dahil pangalawang panalo namin for this season. Sobra kaming na-inspire kasi unlike last season diba nakuha namin 'yung first win namin matagal pa," NU head coach Norman Miguel said.

"Malaking factor ‘to para sa players namin. Malaking morale boost para sa kanila to work harder towards the succeeding games namin," he added.

The Lady Bulldogs found themselves down 22-24 in the first frame until Adamson errors fueled NU's set-clinching run. They never trailed from that point onward.

The Lady Falcon came to within one in the decisive third set at 15-16 before Paran and Mutshima widened the gap, putting NU in complete control.

Ivy Lacsina and Risa Sato were also instrumental in the 90-minute sweep. The former had nine points while the latter collected half of her eight markers from blocks.

Joni Chavez ably distributed the wealth with 13 excellent sets laced with nine digs. Jennifer Nierva anchored their floor coverage with 11 digs and 10 receptions.

Adamson couldn't sustain its competitive start, falling to a heap of trouble in the second and third frames no thanks to miscues. The Lady Falcons gave up a set worth of errors with 25 to NU's 17.

Trisha Genesis topped Adamson with 12 points laced with 11 digs in a losing cause. Grace Toring managed 11 markers that went for naught.
