F2 Logistics relied on defense to foil power-spiking Gyselle Silva en route to a 25-22, 25-18, 25-17 win over Smart in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Thursday.
After losing to rival Petron in the weekend, a more fiery Cargo Movers squad rebounded for their second win in 3 games.
Venezuelan Maria Jose Perez erupted for 12 kills and 3 blocks for 15 points while Aby Marano chipped in 9 points for the Cargo Movers.
But it wasn’t their attacks that keyed the victory for the reigning champions, it was their defense.
The Cargo Movers limited Silva to only 17 points, her lowest scoring output so far in the tournament.
Silva, a former member of the Cuban national team, torched Cocolife for 33 points before chalking up 23 against Cignal and another 33 against Foton in a five-set battle last Tuesday.
In the second game, Ukrainian import Bohdana Anisova fired 23 points, while Fil-American MJ Phillips chipped in 16 as Sta. Lucia defeated Cignal, 32-30, 25-22, 25-21.
The Lady Realtors improved to 2-2 and created a 4-way tie with Cignal, Foton and F2 Logistics for the numbers 3 to 6 spots.
