.MANILA - Defending champion National University made quick work of Adamson, 25-22, 25-18, 25-16, to cruise to their third consecutive win in the UAAP Season 81 men's volleyball tournament on Sunday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Reigning Finals MVP Bryan Bagunas uncorked 24 points on 19 kills and 5 blocks, as the Bulldogs handed the Soaring Falcons their first loss of the tournament.

James Natividad added 11 points for National U, which improved to 3-1 to share second place with their victims.

It was Adamson's first loss of Season 81.

Goerge Labang Jr. led Adamson with 11 points, as veteran Pao Pablico was limited to just five markers. The Bulldogs stifled the Falcons' offense, coming up with 13 blocks and holding Adamson to just 23 kills in the 64-minute affair.

"Naging effective 'yung receive and floor defense namin kanina," said NU coach Dante Alinsunurin afterward. "So, mas naging madali sa amin pumuntos, pati basahin 'yung kalaban."

In the first game, Ateneo de Manila University snapped a two-game skid with a 25-22, 25-19, 25-11 rout of University of the East.

Tony Koyfman had 13 points, while Ron Medalla and Chu Njigha each scored 9 markers as the Blue Eagles dismissed the Red Warriors.

Ateneo improved to 2-2, as they nabbed their first win since a season-opening sweep of La Salle.

No player reached double-digits for the Red Warriors, with Clifford Inoferio and Angelu Alba tallying six markers each. UE dropped to 1-3.
