ONE lightweight champion Eduard Folayang does not mind facing MMA legend Shinya Aoki in Japan.

In fact, he wants to conquer the Tōbikan Jūdan (The Grand Master of Flying Submissions) in their rematch at the latter's turf in Tokyo.

"Very excited ako kasi ito 'yung una kong laban sa Japan," said the face of Team Lakay during their meeting with the media on Tuesday.

"Kailangang maging accurate and precise ang execution ko sa game plan ko against him... I want to perform to the best of my ability sa hometown niya."

Folayang added that he likes his chances in fighting in Japan since most of his career defeats took place at home.

"Kung tutuusin karamihan ng talo ko dito sa Pilipinas at karamihan ng panalo ko doon sa labas," said the Landslide.

The bout is a reboot of their first meeting back in 2016, when Folayang pulled off a massive upset against Aoki by finishing the Japanese in the third round of their title bout.

A lot has happened since then.

Folayang successfully defended the title against Malaysia's Ev Ting, then lost it to Aussie-Vietnamese Martin Nguyen. He crowned himself champion again by dominating Singapore's Amir Khan last November.

Aoki, on the other hand, lost a welterweight title attempt against the US' Ben Askren before stringing three straight victories to bring himself back to lightweight title contention.

"Ang ine-expect kong gawin niya for the fight is prepare well. Maghahanda siya para mapunta sa paboritong area niya ang laban," said Folayang.

"Pinaghahandaan natin 'yun. Kailangang maging kalmado tayo at maganda ang composure natin."

The bout will serve as the main event of the highly stacked ONE: A New Era on March 31.

The card will feature four title bouts, including Kevin Belingon's ONE bantamweight title defense against Bibiano Fernandes.

Folayang promised fans that their fight will turn out even better than their first clash.

"I think we will be facing a better Shinya, and I think he will be facing a better Eduard,"he said.
