Despite missing Allyn Bulanadi, third seed Basilan-Jumbo Plastic still moved on the cusp of advancing to the 2020 Chooks-to-Go MPBL Lakan Cup South semis after an emphatic 83-68 win over sixth seed Iloilo at Strike Gym in Bacoor Wednesday.

In the other game, second seed Bacoor City put up an inspired performance, routing seventh seed GenSan-Burlington, 95-72.

Basilan and Bacoor can finish their respective best-of-3 series Basilan City Gymnasium on Monday, February 24.

In Cavite, Jhapz Bautista stepped up for Basilan with 21 points, including three 3-pointers.

Behind in the first three quarters, Iloilo eventually ran out of gas in the payoff period.

"Actually maganda ’yung first quarter namin, nakauna kami ng 12-0. So I just told the team to play 40 minutes kasi sure na babalik si Iloilo. We just need to weather the storm," said Steel coach Jerson Cabiltes.

Bulanadi did not play, as he attended to Gilas Pilipinas duties.

Jasper Parker led the United Royals with 11 points.

Meanwhile, Bacoor was scorching from the get-go, rolling to a blistering 20-4 start and never relinquishing the lead.

Reigning MVP Gab Banal top-billed for the Strikers with 20 points and 11 assists.

Robby Celiz paced GenSan with 17 points.
