Filipino figure skater Michael Martinez thanked his supporters for cheering him on in the 2018 Winter Olympics, hours after he bowed out in the preliminary phase of the men's figure skating competition in Pyeongchang, South Korea on Friday.
In a message posted on his official Instagram account, Martinez remains grateful to his fans despite his failure to move to the next round of the Olympic competition.
"Thank you very much for all the support and prayers!!! I am very proud to represent our country again here at the #pyeongchang2018," said Martinez.
Despite delivering a graceful performance, the two-time Olympian finished at 28th place, registering a component score of 29.52 and a technical score of 26.04 for a total of 55.56 points.
Martinez glided over the ice to the tune of "Emerald Tiger" by Vanessa Mae.
